In 2002 Nick Campbell was approached by Grubsrof Video Productions to do a drumset instructional DVD. The DVD has been very well received by the drumming community and has been selling well. The DVD covers (but is not limited to) grip, hand-foot combinations, rudiments and applying rudiments to the drumset. It also contains live footage of Nick performing with Jam Pain Society, playing a Sexual Harris song and a few short open solos. If you are a drummer or potential one...pick it up here!

Geared toward beginner and intermediate players, Campbell’s DVD aims to teach drummers proper technique and to keep them from developing bad drumming habits. After all, achieving correct technique is the first step to becoming a better drummer and developing improper technique from the get-go could limit or even inhibit your playing in the future. Bad habits are hard to break, remember? Campbell, a very skilled drummer in his own right, demonstrates how to develop your chops with a variety of exercises that improve your grip and clean up your rudiments. He also includes a variety of exercises to get your left foot to do more than clamp your hats down. Though this DVD is far from a big-budget blockbuster, Campbell’s meat-and-potatoes approach makes all the lessons easy to learn and absorb. In the extras, he shows off his fine technique on three solos and on a live performance.

Nick Campbell’s DVD “Building Better Technique” was reviewed in the April 06 edition of DRUM!
